Kota Open University was renamed to Vardhman Mahaveer Open University on the 21st of September 2002 via a Rajasthan government gazette notification. ABOUTUNIVERSITY VMOU embarked upon the journey of academic excellence in 1987. Also, the institute was initially known as Kota Open University and was renamed to Vardhman Mahaveer Open University through a Gazette notification by the Rajasthan Government on 21st September, 2002. Furthermore, it is a pioneer institution for open learning in Rajasthan. Also, the birth-child was made on the recommendations of the UGC Committee headed by Late Prof G. Rama Reddy whose thinking was that the distance education in Rajasthan should be delivered through a full fledged open university. Additionally, the establishment of VMOU is the result of the amalgamation of Institute of Correspondence Studies and Continuing Education, Jaipur and College of Correspondence Studies, Udaipur. VMOU was established with a view to strengthen and properly coordinate the scattered distant education by providing uniform quality education at one place. Perhaps the vision of the university is to widen access to and promote a flexible, innovative and cost-effective system of education.

INFRASTRUCTURE Library The main objective of the VMOU’s library is to support the research and educational activities. Hence, the library has a vast collection of books, bound volumes of periodicals, reprints, Indexed articles, Seminar Papers, Ph.D. Theses, Journals Subscribed, Journals Subscribed (Online). In addition to that, an adequate number of computers, Wi-Fi connectivity, well-qualified library staff, and availability of demographic information sources are the strengths of the library. Medical Facilities In the first place, it recommended for an educational institution to provide excellent health services to students. Therefore, the institute provides general health care services to all its students and staff.
INFRASTRUCTURE Auditorium Education shouldn’t restrained inside the concrete cubicles for all the years of education. The seminar hall used for conducting various co-curricular activities, including seminars and workshops. Additionally, the air-conditioned seminar hall equipped with the latest technology, such as multimedia projectors, and architecturally designed to make interactive sessions impactful and effective. Computer Lab The university has well-equipped computer labs for the sake of practical education in computer applications. Also, it is to say that they learn the latest trends and developments in the computer world. Additionally, it has a smart class and a library of its own. Consequently, it has ICT enabled teaching and learning for the purpose of offering quality education.
