  3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY Sikkim University is presently situated in Gangtok, the capital town of Sikkim. The university further runs from several buildings that are located along NH-10. Additionally, the headquarters of the university is located at Samdur, 6th Mile, Tadong. However, the administration is currently planning to bring its permanent campus to Yangang in South Sikkim. Bagdogra airport and New Jalpaiguri railway station are the nearest stop for the university. Sikkim University is an upcoming educational institution established in 2006 under the central government. Additionally, Sikkim University is offering five Undergraduate programs, about thirty- two Postgraduate courses, and twenty-eight programs. These courses are under M.Phil/ Ph.D. It further includes BA, B.Sc, B.Com, MA, M.Com, MBA, M.Sc, and many more. However, students seeking admission to this university should fulfill the requirements of the merit list for the concerned exam.

  5. HISTORY Sikkim University lies in the category of central university, established under an Act of Parliament of India. Further, planning are done to expand the campus and built at Yangang in the South Sikkim district. It is situated about 56 kilometers (35 mi) from Gangtok. The first chancellor of the Sikkim University was M. S. Swaminathan, and Mahendra P. Lama, the first vice-chancellor. Since 2008, the university has had four departments, ie. Microbiology, Peace and Conflict Studies and Management, Social System and Anthropology and International Relations/Politics. However, the university is now further offering traditional courses in physical and life sciences, humanities, and forestry. Moreover, there are some non-traditional disciplines that are practical to the state—for example, mountain studies, ethnic history, hill music and culture, border studies, etc.

  7. INFRASTRUCTURE Library: Sikkim University Library offers its students with well-equipped and updated libraries. Along with being fully equipped, it further includes facilities- modern infrastructure and web-enabled automated services. Hence, it focuses on offering user-friendly library services along with providing remote access to some well-organized resources. Moreover, the users can get access to all its services on mobile through the library App. Library remains open for all, even if you are not a registered member. As per the statistics, the total collection of the library is rounding to be 47,000. These include printed books that are all RFID tagged for smooth circulation and security purposes. The library currently subscribes to more than 220 foreign and Indian journals along with 30 popular magazines and more than 20 national and local newspapers. Both paperback and e-format versions are there for some of the journals.

  8. INFRASTRUCTURE Hostel Sikkim University has in total eight hostels, 4 for boys and 4 for girls. Additionally, these hostels offer some basic facilities like a common room, water purifiers, laundry services, recreation room, mess, surveillance system, TV, etc. Guest House: The university makes sure to offers its guest with decent rooms in fully furnished. Hence, the guest house has a spectacular panoramic view of Gangtok town and Paljor stadium. It is giving a refreshing and a treat to the eyes. Just cover the 10 minutes of walking distance from MG Marg to reach the guest house. Apart from the above facilities, there are multiple other resources to make the stay more relaxing. These further includes Wi-Fi enabled building, LED TV, cupboard, reading table, intercom connectivity along with dining hall offering fresh and hot meals.

  9. INFRASTRUCTURE Health: In the first place, in May 2012, Medical Officer and a Staff Nurse were appointed for its first Health Centre. Additionally, the Health Care Centre is located adjacent to the Kanchendzonga Management Block, 6th mile, Tadong, Gangtok. Furthermore, it is functioning with the help of three rooms and five staff. And has Senior Medical Officer, Nursing Attendant, Pharmacist, MTS, Medical Officer, and Staff nurse. Gym: Keeping students fit, the university offers six days of the working gym. It has the latest equipment and fully trained staff. Moreover, there are different shifts for male and female users. Besides, there are trained male and female instructors that offer constant supervision to the users.

(4years) and BPA. Masters: All the master's courses at Sikkim University are known for their comprehensive level of education. Moreover, it focuses on integrating learning along with practical knowledge and practice.
