The university was particularly established in 2009 with an aim to offer quality education in the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees across various streams of Legals, Entrepreneurship, IA, Journalism & Communication, Finance, Art, Architecture, and Psychology and Counselling. JGU has been conferred the status of an institution of eminence by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It has been accredited by the NAAC with an 'A' grade. JGU is recognized by the UGC and is a part of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
