  3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is an autonomous not-for-profit public institution to offer quality higher education in the field of health sciences. As a matter of fact, RGUIHS has affiliations from national level statutory bodies including the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Medical Council of India (MCI). In addition to this, the renowned health university has recognition from the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) as well as the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (IIMS) for its exceptional medical courses. Besides this, Rajiv Gandhi University is a full-fledged member of the United Kingdom-based Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

  5. HISTORY Around the 1970s, there was an incredible increase in the number of health institutions. However, all these institutions functioned in a diversified academic format. Thus, the need to regulate, monitor and follow a standardised academic format was felt. As a result, Karnataka Government laid the foundation stone of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to ensure uniformity throughout the health colleges of the state. As a matter of fact, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences was established on the fortunate day of 1st June 1996 via the legal act by the State Government of Karnataka.

COURSES OFFERED Bachelor’s Course: UG courses available at the university are Bachelors (Dental Surgery), MBBS, Bachelors (Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), Bachelors (Pharmacy), Bachelors of Science, and Bachelors (Occupational Training). On the contrary, the most popular course is Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery (MBBS). Master’s Courses: MD Ayurveda, MD Homeopathy, MSc Nursing, M Pharma, MPT, and M.Ch. (Masters of Chirurgie). In addition to this, RGUIHS offers two years of short-term PG Diploma courses in various disciplines including Radiotherapy, Public Health, Dermatology, Venerology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. PhD./M.Phil Courses: PhD courses are Pathology, Orthopedics, E.N.T, Physiology, as well as Neurology, Anatomy, Microbiology among others.
