  3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY • The Government of Karnataka established the university in 2004. The headquarters of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University is located in Bidar, Karnataka. There are various institutions and colleges which come under the KVAFSU. Moreover, the University Grants Commission has approved and recognised the university. The university offers various courses in UG, PG, Doctoral and Diploma levels.There is a large number of constituent colleges under Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Science University. There are around six campuses that offer numerous courses. HISTORY As per the Karnataka Act 9 of 2004, the Government of Karnataka established the university with an aim to develop research and education in the field of Fisheries Science, Animal and Veterinary. Ever since the university was established, it has become a leading institution to research on different aspects of Veterinary and Fisheries Science. Additionally, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal, and Fisheries Science University also have quite a number of constituent colleges and research centres. Those research centres allow students to solely focus on conducting studies and providing an excellent opportunity to work on live projects.

  6. COURSES Karnataka Veterinary, Animal, and Fisheries Science University offer various courses. Some of them include Bachelors: KVAFSU offers B.V.Sc and A.H with specialisations in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences. The duration of this course is for four and a half years, with six months being an internship program. The university also offers B.Tech with a specialisation in Dairy Sciences. The duration of this course is four years, along with that the university also provides a six months training program to the students. The duration of the course B.F.Sc is the same. Moreover, the specialisation available for this course is Fisheries Sciences. The candidates are required to get a qualifying score in the Common Entrance Test, and they are selected in accordance to those scores obtained.

  7. Masters: Karnataka Veterinary, Animal, and Fisheries Science University offer a Masters in Fisheries Science. The specialisations for this course are Aquatic Environment Management, Fisheries Resources and Management, and Fisheries Microbiology. Additionally, KVAFSU also offers M.Tech and M.V.Sc. Some of the subjects under M.Tech are Dairy Chemistry, Dairy Technology and Dairy Microbiology. They also offer MBA in Food Business. For a majority of the PG courses, the candidate has to sit for the entrance test along with a degree with an aggregate of 50. After the written test, KVAFSU also holds group discussion and a personal interview. This is mainly for MBA candidates.  PhD: KVAFSU offers Doctoral programs in Veterinary and Animal Science, Fisheries Science and Dairy Science. The candidates are required to have a master’s degree to apply for a PhD course. Moreover, all the PhD courses are for a duration of three years.

  8. INFRASTRUCTURE Library Karnataka Veterinary, Animal, and Fisheries Science University have a large library with multiple facilities available for the students. Additionally, the library has many books, journals, magazines and the like. Along with that, there are e-facilities for the faculty and students as well. The faculty and students can access e-books and e-journals at any time during the day with the help of the databases. Moreover, they can also use the computers in the library to download online resources, print, take photocopies and many more. Hostel KVAFSU provides accommodation facilities for both boys and girls. The available facilities in the hostel create a secure and comfortable environment for the students. Moreover, the hostel also has a mess, which provides food three times a day. Additionally, the hostel has a 24/7 power and water supply, cots, tables and chairs and a good security system.

There is a volleyball and basketball court, badminton court, table tennis, gymnasiums and the like. Apart from the hostel mess, the KVAFSU campus also has a good canteen that provides healthy hygienic food. Placements Karnataka Veterinary, Animal, and Fisheries Science University placement cell helps the students in many ways. They collaborate with companies often to organise various pre-placement talks so that the students get the best job positions. Moreover, the companies offer the best salary packages, and they also offer internship programs. Since a number of courses require a six months internship program, the placement cell assists the students in getting good internships with high stipends. The top companies who recruit the students during the placement drive include Nestle, Amul among many others. Fee Structure The first-year fees for B.F.Sc and B.Tech are INR 3.6Lakhs. Moreover, for B.V.Sc, the first-year fees are INR 5.7Lakhs.
