  3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY University of North Bengal, abbreviated as NBU, is a renowned University established in 1962. It is a public research university in Raja Rammohanpur Siliguri in Darjeeling District in India. The main purpose behind the establishment of this University was to fill the rising manpower needs in the six North Bengal districts and neighboring state of Sikhism. NBU offers Undergraduat, Post-graduate, M.Phil and Doctorate degree programs.

  5. HISTORY The University of North Bengal was the first university established in that region. The Act which brought its foundations was the Act of Legislature of West Bengal in 1962. It serves the major 6 rural districts namely, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Maldah, Uttar Dinajpur and Dakshin Dinajpur. Furthermore, in 2008 and 2012-13, with the establishment of University of Gour Banga and Cooch Behar PanchananBarma University , the colleges in these areas were then affiliated with them. Lately, the University of North Bengal has jurisdiction over Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts.

  7. INFRASTRUCTURE There is an auditorium for organizing many events and multipurpose programs. The university also provides a moot court. There is also a cafeteria that provides delicious and fresh food, which is also a cool hangout place for the students The computer laboratory consists of modems, printers, scanners, and many other devices connected to an efficient internet connection. This helps the students have the right research and come up with their theories and thesis. The students have medical facilities so that they are able to assist the students when at times, they need medical emergencies. The wi-fi is something that is available everywhere around the campus.

  8. INFRASTRUCTURE The University of North Bengal has a campus of around 330 acres. It is located between Siliguri and Bagdogra Airport, in the Terai region. Though, the second campus is in Danguajhar in Jalpaiguri.
