  3. South AsianUniversity South Asian University came into existence in the year 2010. In its initial year, the University operated with just two Ph.D. programs from a temporary space provided by JNU. Later in the next year, the University shifted to a better, more extensive campus at Akbar Bhawan in 2011. The University will settle on a 100-acre plot ultimately. The construction of a totally redefined campus is already in progress. SAU (South Asian University) awarded its first Ph.D. degrees in the year 2018. Subsequently, the University also awarded the gold medal to students from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for their excellentperformances. The University ultimately aims to have 11 faculties. Moreover focus of the University is to develop excellent research and PG programs enabling holistic learning experience for as many as 7000 students. The University also aims to have a student-to-teacher ratio of1:10.

  5. HISTORY The University came into existence in the year 2010. The concept of forming an international University for SAARC countries was first pitched by Dr. Manmohan Singh in the year 2005. Three years after the pitch, a project office was established in 2008 inDelhi. Committees with representatives from all SAARC nations were made to oversee the establishment of theUniversity. In 2011 the University started operating from a temporary campus at Chanakyapuri. Notably, a Nepalese architect firm is presently overseeing the development of the Mehrauli campus. In other words, this decision also reflectedinclusivity. In its initial days of formation, the University started with just two Ph.D. programs. Furthermore, Prof. Gowher Rizvi of Bangladesh developed the Universities framework. The University received accent from all 8 SAARC members in2007.

  6. RANKING South Asian University(NATIONAL &INTERNATIONAL) South Asian University Ranks Poorly in International and National level ranking because it is a new University. Moreover, The University needs to boost up its developing phase to see some better ranking days. The parameters used in ranking methodology would have proved disadvantageous given the University's developing phase and unavailability of varied courses, which results in a lesser number of students. However, fewer students result in a good student to facultyratio.

  7. INFRASTRUCTURE The Infrastructure and Facilities at SAU are adequate to meet the current functioning of the University. By thesame token, the infrastructure available at the campus is as followed. Library The Library at SAU has subscriptions to over 18 digital book databases likes of which include NDL and ACMdigital libraries. In addition to these, the Library owns a subscription to 15 e-journals and seven ebookpublishers. G.K Chadda library is named after its first president, who majorly contributed to the growth of SAU. In addition to having many physical books, the Library offers students to read journals through J-gate. The Library also has anarea where students can sit and readbooks. .

  8. Hostel and Mess • Hostels at SAU are separate for girls and boys, equally with two separate wardens. Hostels in the University come pre-equipped with furniture and fittings. The bathrooms come with geyser and hot water facilities. Hostels have a common room, internet room, dining hall, and visitor's room. The hostels in SAU are strictly anti- ragging. The hostels also have safety measures like fire deterrents and smoke detectors, and CCTV.SAU does have standard hostel rules which need to be followedstrictly. • Sports • The University has a sports federation that operates under the aegis of the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF). This comes with a benefit for the students interested in sports as it opens a gate into international sports. AUSF is recognized by Olympic Committee and United Nations. The University has already been directed by AUSF to conduct sporting events of all types to promote growth in sports and further develop the association between AUSF and SAU. The University's temporary Akbar Bhawan campus is facilitated with a basketball-playing court, carom and chess recreational room, and tabletennis. • OtherFacilities • Canteen: A hygienic cafeteria is available at the University, together with healthy food choices. • GYM: The University has not only a well-equipped gym for its students butalso • spaces for yoga sessions. • Round-the-clock security guards keep a check coupled with an electronic surveillancesystem. • The recreational room where students can watch television, additionally a music room is also available for similaractivities.

  9. Courses Presently, the University offers 12 courses, including post-graduate and Ph.D. levels of studies. Furthermore, these courses are divided into five faculties, namely, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Life science and biotechnology, Faculty ofEconomics, Faculty of Social Science, and Faculty of legalstudies. Courses available at SAU are M.Sc in applied mathematics, computer science, and biotechnology.M.A. in economics, sociology, and InternationalRelations. Masters in Law LLM. Ph.D. in biotechnology,economics, and legalstudies.
