  2. Close the windows and sunroof • If you are driving in town, then it will cause any problem, but when you are traveling out of town and moving at a high speed, the shape of the car is important. • Designers will call its aerodynamics and makes a lot of effort to reduce the drag and reduce the car as sleek as possible. • The wind forces the car backwards while driving and you will see the speed variation while travelling. • This makes more consumption of petrol also in less mileage.

  3. Accelerate Smoothly • Always press the accelerate smoothly, while driving constantly increase the speed. • If you are a patient driver you will have lower fuel bills. • Unrealistic to avoid overtaking, but there is little point, accelerating to past a car and be in front of next set of signals.

  4. Make Fewer Trips • When you take a car that is parked for a few hours, the engine looks cold and uses much more fuel for the first 5 miles or so? You combine all your daily run into one huge trip. • This is also not possible if you must pop out during the day to drop off and collect the family, but make sure not to go out separately to supermarket shop or to buy some trivial things.

  5. Stick to speed limit • You are going for a long trip around 200 - mile means you would have reached about 20 minutes early. • But, you drove at a speed of 80mph instead of 70mph, then it is not a right economy. • Because if it is 20 minutes less in the sense your car used much more fuel when you are travelling. • This 20 minutes will cost you up to €7 extra in the fuel.

  6. Don’t Push The Accelerator Down Too Far • This is the one that scares people. • You may be in a high gear and travelling at sensible speed, but you are pushing the accelerator down a long way to avoid gear shifting ratio like into third from fourth then don’t think you are using less fuel. • Obviously not. But if your car has an automatic gear box then it will decide when to shift, so this won’t cause any trouble.
