Its Presentation in women • Fibroadenomas are benign (Non-Cancer) tumour/Lumps of the breast, which most commonly present in women between 15-35 years of age. • Clinically – most patients have- • Painless solid breast Lump • Firm or rubbery • Mobile known as “Breast Mouse” • Solitary mostly near round with smooth borders.

  5. Risk of developing cancer • Most fibroadenomas do not affect patient’s risk of breast cancer. • But breast cancer risk might increase slightly if patient have a “Complex or a Phyllodestumour”

  6. Causes • The cause of fibroadenomas is not known cause means “Idiopathic”. • Suggestive theories – association with hormones. • Less common in • Higher intake of diet with fruits and vegetables. • Moderate exercise. • Lower or no use of oral contraceptives.

  7. Types of Fibroadenomas • Simple Fibroadenomas • Complex Fibroadenomas – rapid growth • Juvenile Fibroadenomas – 10-18 years age • Giant Fibroadenomas - >5cm in size • PhyllodesTumour - recommended for early intervention.

  8. Diagnosis • Clinical examination. • Ultrasound or mammography. • Fine-needle aspiration. • Core-needle biopsy. • Surgical biopsy.

  9. Treatment Surgical Treatment Non-invasive Surgical Treatment • When fibroadenomas get larger or causes increased symptom. • Aesthetically Complete removal by cosmetic surgery. • Histopathology after removal. • Cryoablation – with USG guide cryo-probe use to destroy the abnormal cell. • Advantage – no – cut. • Disadvantage – take long time and need involvement of radiologist and surgeon. • HIFU – not in use presently.
