There is a big benefit to the early detection of disease in animals. This can lead to early treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions that can be fatal in humans. By using digital imaging, small animal scans can provide images of internal organs, arteries, veins, bones, lungs, kidneys, pancreas, gallbladder, liver, small joints, teeth, and much more. Small animal imaging is also valuable in studying bone anatomy, skeletal structure, and joints. Moreover, with this technology more animals can be scanned at one time. There are several types of animal imaging system available in market today. The digital x-ray (DRI) scanner and flexible magnetic field source (FMS) are used to create images of the internal organs. These technologies are ideal for studying the functions of the liver or kidneys in dogs or cats. In larger animals, such as horses or cattle, the scanning method can be applied for inspecting organs and tissues. The advantage of small animal imaging is that it can detect small abnormalities or diseases before they become serious enough to require surgery.
