  1. Understanding Audio Transformers and Their Applications An audio transformer is often called a signal transformer. It is a specially-built unit, which manages and enhances the signal transmission in the audio system. To begin with, it performs two functions: impedance matching and electrical isolation. When the audio transformer separates the input and output circuits, it technically makes the interference by noise and ground loop disappear, thus the sound quality is of higher fidelity or even inaudible noise can be heard. What Are Audio Transformers Used For? The use of audio transformers includes application as the amplifiers, mixing consoles, microphones, and communication systems. They are indispensable elements in locations where maximum signal control and noise elimination are needed. Besides isolation, they assist in harmonizing the impedance between different circuit stages, thus allowing the maximum power transfer and minimum distortion. The design of an audio transformer considers various factors such as: The highest signal level The frequency range The distortion limits The insertion loss The shielding requirements Usually, the core material of these transformers is made of nickel steel because of its very good magnetic properties, but silicon steel can also be used if different performance characteristics are required. In order to eliminate the interferences completely, a Faraday shield or magnetic shielding can be used. Custom Audio Transformers from CET Technology At CET Technology, we are the designers and manufacturers of both standard and custom audio transformers for a wide range of applications involving impedance transformation and signal isolation. Low distortion and a certain frequency range are examples of the specific performance requirements with which each transformer is associated.
