Dairy entrepreneurship in India Dairy Entrepreneurship refers to creating a dairy farm business for monetary benefits and industrial expansion. In the modern age, dairy farming has become very prominent. Many business enthusiasts are striving to launch their dairy organizations and open dairy farms for cattle rearing and milk processing with many benefits from dairy farming. Consequently, the government has taken timely measures to encourage better milk yields and preserve and upgrade the dairy production of the Indian dairy industry, meeting prospective dairy farmers eye to eye. Schemes to promote Dairy entrepreneurship - Dairy Entrepreneurship campaigns by the government include introducing different schemes and proposals to encourage efforts in the Indian Dairy industry. The Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries (DADF) gave administrative approval to introduce the Central Sector Scheme entitled 'Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme' or the DEDS, to promote dairy entrepreneurship in India. In 2015-16, this scheme was implemented at the Ministry of Agriculture, Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. The DEDS- National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) was selected as the central agency for implementing DEDS in all Indian countries and union territories. Various aims of the DEDS by the government include- ● developing more self-employed individuals ● Providing facilities for the milk industry ● Establishing new dairy farms and clean facilities for processing milk ● Encouraging healthier calf rearing for the protection and growth of successful breeding stocks, In addition to these, the DEDS also ensures that systemic improvements occur to the unorganized dairy sector so that it becomes possible to improve initial milk production to the village level. The DEDS also focuses on promoting the establishment of modern dairy farms for clean milk production and promoting the rearing of a healthier calf such that sufficient breeding stock is maintained. It seeks to make efforts to upgrade efficiency and conventional milk management technologies on a commercial scale. Farmers, individuals, entrepreneurs, and unorganized and organized business associations are eligible for the DEDS. The Unified Sector Group includes, on behalf of its members, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Dairy Cooperative Societies and Milk Unions, Milk Federations, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), etc. Under the scheme, more than one member of a family may be supported if they set up different units of separate facilities at multiple places. The introduction of such schemes by the government dramatically enhances the functioning and efficiency of dairy farms. They support Dairy entrepreneurship on a global level by maintaining sufficient milk yields and dairy processing tools and equipment.
