  1. 8 Countries without Universal Healthcare- Truth or Myth? Universal health careis a necessary criterion for overall development. Due to the several advantages of universal health care, most countries have opted for it. The universal healthcare system ensures that people receive quality healthcare without suffering financially. The universal healthcare system ensuresequality in terms of accessibility of health care services among all strata of society. It aims to provide an all-round development by spreading general health awareness, improving the health care infrastructure. This health system also invests in research and development in the field of medical science and provide basic sanitation so that the standard of life is improved. In this article, we will look at 8 countrieswithout universal healthcare. List of Countries without Universal Healthcare These are 8 of the countries that do not have universal health care. 1. South Africa Access to health care, after the Apartheid movement in South Africa, is included as one of the fundamental rights in the constitution of the country. The reality is, however, different. The public service has a dearth of resources, and the public sectors are severely understaffed. Since a large section of the country lives in a condition of utter poverty, they cannot access the health services offered by a privatized health care system.

  2. 2. Iran The population of Iran is roughly over 83 million. Despite the imposition of rigid economic sanctions, Iran has fared well compared to other countries that are developing. They have adapted to modern systems, and most of the people have access to healthcare through a publicly owned health care system. Although they have insurance schemes, due to the lack of a universal healthcare system, insurance cannot cover the cost of expensive services provided by the private sector. 3. Egypt The population of Egypt is roughly around 100 million. Thus, there is a need for a universal healthcare system. The healthcare system in Egypt is privately owned, although the government is aiming to provide health insurance at a national level by 2025. While most of the population lives in a condition of immense poverty, the expenditure for healthcare services provided by the private sector remains too high for an average citizen. 4. Nigeria Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa. The population is roughly around 200 million. Due to the lack of a universal healthcare system, most of the expenses for healthcare are out- of-pocket expenditure. Whereas the National Healthcare scheme that they have covers only 10% of the total population, depriving most of the people, who are extremely poor, of basic health care services.
