Do’s and Don’ts in Marble Flooring
Take care of Marble Flooring: Do’s and Don’ts Marble flooring adds beauty and elegance to interiors of any room. If you want to keep the marble flooring shiny and long lasting, then it needs to be cared properly. Here are a few ways in which you can take care of your marble tile floors:
Taking care of spills Most of the liquids such as wine, fruit juice and food items contain acid. Such acidic food or liquid when spilled on marble floors causes it to etch or leaves stains on its surface. In such a case, gently rub the floor with a clean cloth dipped in a solution of hydrogen peroxide mixed with a few drops of ammonia. Do not use vinegar or any other acidic product to clean your marble floors. Remember to clean your marble flooring with PH natural and gentle cleaners. Avoid using locally available, cheap quality cleaner, which could be one of the reason of damaging the surface. Marble floors tiles are porous and can easily be stained by spills from food, metal furniture legs, sitting hot pots, ink, oil and water damage, etc. You have to be careful while using cooking oil or any other greasy products as it can also stain the marble. Remember to clean it immediately with some soap or water.
Use mat and rugs It is recommended to use a rug or carpet runner in high traffic areas and entry points. Wipe your feet before entering as it will help in keeping the surface from unknown, unavoidable scratches. Dust particles easily enter the house through the main door. And it is crucial to keep your marbles free from scratches and dust to maintain its longevity and shinny look.
Dust mop Cleaning the grit and dust from the floor tile everyday is the key to protect the floor and increase its shelf life. Be sure that the dust mop is soft. Do not clean your floor tiles with pads that are treated with chemicals. Clean your dust mop after every use so that when you use it the next time, dust will not be reapplied on your floor tile.
Vacuum cleaner Be sure to use only soft bristle brushes on your vacuum cleaner. Avoid going for plastic or metal attachments. It is highly recommended to not use an upright vacuum on marble floor as its wheels or other parts could possibility damage the finish.
