Interestingly, flooring trends tend to come and go, but few things remain the same. Back to the prehistoric times when floors were just a patch of ground with dirt sand and straw to the hardwood, vinyl and laminates, there has been a huge shift in design, covering the way for many unique flooring trends.   3. History of hardwood flooring: The concept of hardwood flooring was quite unacceptable among common people in the middle ages. It was only the the wealthy who could afford the use of more elaborate/finer finished wood flooring. Only after the Industrial Revolution, the common sizing of wood flooring evolved. Engineered hardwood flooring was developed in the 1960s for basements and the first floors of properties built on concrete slabs. Hardwood floors first began to be used in homes in the 1600s. Until the late 1800s, the rich could only afford it, they were usually entangled, hand-crafted parquet. In the homes of ordinary people, roughly cut, unfinished planks were simply laid down side by side. In the 1920s, electric portable wood sander, with that hardwood flooring popularity grew again. In the recent days, oil-based polyurethane is used to create gorgeous floors.

  4. History of Laminate flooring: Sold under the brand name “Pergo”, laminate flooring was first invented in 1977 by a Swedish company Perstorp. Since 1923, they have been making laminate floor surfaces. Later in 1984, it marketed its product in Europe and to the United States in 1994.
