  2. Introduction Is traditional yerba mate by itself too bitter for your taste? We have the solution for you! Why not try sweet, toasted yerba mate? It will be ready in about 5 minutes! www.buenaondafoods.com

  3. What you will need. 1 tablespoon Loose Leaf Yerba Mate 2 tablespoons of sugar 4 cups of boiling water Saucepan and wisk www.buenaondafoods.com

  4. Step 1 Pour 1 tablespoon loose leaf yerba mate into a saucepan. www.buenaondafoods.com

  5. Step 2 • Add 2 tablespoons of table sugar. Warm over medium heat on your stove. www.buenaondafoods.com

  6. Step 3 Stir the mixture well. Try to keep the mate and sugar fairly evenly distributed across the pan. www.buenaondafoods.com

  7. Step 4 The sugar will begin caramelizing. As this happens some of the yerba mate leaves will become toasted. Continue to stir. It is easy to burn the mixture, so watch out! www.buenaondafoods.com

  8. Step 5 After some of the mate is toasted and the sugar is caramelized, add 4 cups of boiling water. Be careful as you pour the water as there will be lots of steam. www.buenaondafoods.com

  9. Step 6 Stir the mixture over continued heat until the sugar has dissolved. This usually takes 2 minutes or less. www.buenaondafoods.com

  10. ¡Buenprovecho! Let the mixture cool and settle for a few minutes. Strain the tea into a mug being careful not to get the leaves into your cup. You can reuse the toasted leaves in your gourd until they are lavado. Enjoy!! www.buenaondafoods.com
