Animated Infographics: The Most Trending Thing Now

Dubbed the future of visual content, animated infographics take the power of static infographics to

a whole new dimension—one that uses motion and sometimes even sound to add a more engaging

element to the fast-becoming outdated form of content marketing. While the days of static

infographics are becoming numbered, the future is animated infographics, which is already

revolutionizing the way infographics are received.

The evolution of the static infographic from an effective blend of text and images to what now includes

motion, music, sound effects, and even voice overs, makes animated infographics a more universally

acceptable medium for conveying information and messages—much like video content. Animating

different elements in an infographic is a great way to more effectively present and visualize

information and data that are all too often hard to digest. Animated infographics make these kinds

of information and concepts more meaningful and palatable with the help of representational

graphics, embedded numbers, and an engaging storyline.

Iconic or representational graphics are great tools for depicting key, but often abstract concepts. In

many cases, the creative use of symbolisms, such as representations from the physical world, help

audiences better understand important ideas and concepts which can be difficult to visualize/explain

otherwise. A storyline, on the other hand, is a highly compelling way to add meaning to the

information being relayed. Humans are naturally inclined to storytelling. In fact, stories are among

the most efficient means of passing down knowledge while sustaining an audience’s full attention.

Narratives help bring context into data, thus promoting better understanding.

More than being innate storytellers, humans can also be very visual when it comes to learning and

most people find moving pictures and elements that excite the eyes so much more appealing than

plain text or words. According to research, the majority of what the brain processes (at least 90%)

is visual. This is probably the main reason why images can convey more things in a glance. Add

movement and images not only work to convey meaning better, but sustain our interest longer.

Animated infographics work by adding motion to an otherwise static content. Movement is another

great element that adds meaning and value to what is being presented, while creating more visual

interest, which helps keep people entertained and engaged. Animated infographics find great use in

many different forms, ranging from simple animated images to animated explanations and more.
