  1. Did You Know These 4 Basic Traits of Aquarellfarben? Aquarellfarben are one of the best painting mediums that you’ll ever work with. It’s always wondrous to explore the extensive variety of methods in which they can seamlessly make their way into an artist’s work and enrich the artwork with an unmatched beauty. If you are new to painting with aquarellfarben then it’s important that you start from the fundamentals, which includes getting well-acquainted with the basics of aquarellfarben. Here’s a quick rundown on the basic characteristics of aquarellfarben that all newbies to this medium should be well aware of: Composition of Aquarellfarben Let’s start with what are aquarellfarben composed of, which refers to ingredients like color pigments and binding mediums. Pigments are what determine the color of the paints and they can be natural or synthetic. These are finely ground; in fact the finer they are ground, the more bright the color is likely to be. The binding medium of aquarellfarben can be synthetic materials or something like natural gum arabic. In addition to these two primary constituents, aquarellfarben may also contain other requisite components, like for example, preservatives. Drying and Reworking The notable advantage that you get when working with aquarellfarben is that you can rework on watercolor paint even after it has dried up by simply using some water for reactivation. So if you want to make a hue darker then you can keep on adding more color to it till you get the desired shade, or if you want to mix two colors to render a new one, with aquarellfarben you can do it all any time you want. Once you are satisfied with the resultant painting and wouldn’t like to do any further changes, you can apply varnish over the painting to keep it safe from getting spoiled by things like dust and humidity. Applying varnish will also make the painting waterproof, meaning you’ll no longer be able to work on it. Degrees of Transparency in Aquarellfarben The aquarellfarben come in varying degrees of transparency: some colors are transparent meaning light passes through these colors and bounces back from the paper to meet the viewer’s eyes thus rendering a glowing effect, some colors are opaque meaning there is not as much light transmission through these colors. Lying between these two degrees of transparency are semi- transparent and semi-opaque. Lightfastness in Aquarellfarben Lightfastness in aquarellfarben is a quality that talks about the ability of the pigment in the paint to respond to factors like humidity and light, whether the color undergoes any fading or other changes when it comes in contact with these environmental factors. Based on this quality, aquarellfarben are generally classified as fugitive and non-fugitive paints. Fugitive paints have bad lightfastness rating, meaning these paints will not stand the test of time and eventually fade away. On the other hand, non- fugitive paints have good lightfastness rating, meaning these paints will not lose their luster over time and have good durability.
