Aromatase excess syndrome is a disorder in which both males and females have excessive levels of the female sex hormone estrogen. In late infancy or adolescence, males with aromatase excess syndrome develop breast growth (gynecomastia). Affected guys' bones grow and mature more quickly and stop developing earlier than normal (advanced bone age). As a result, boys experience an early growth spurt, usually in late childhood, and have low adult stature. Females with the syndrome rarely display symptoms, but they may experience excessive breast growth (macromastia),
