Society has grossly looked out on the mental, health, environmental, and social benefits of a nudist lifestyle Guest Blog by: African American Naturist The benefits of a naturist lifestyle: Nudist lifestyle - While many in America desperately seek remedies for the critical difficulties resulting from today's superficial, materialistic, unsustainable, environmentally destructive, socially isolated, emotionally disconnected, psychologically trying, and physically sedentary consumer lifestyles, no reference is made by mainstream society of one significant lifestyle feature of many longstanding sustainable societies and indigenous peoples in less industrialized regions around the world (and historically by indigenous peoples within our own area), specifically that of naturism. Advantages of a nudist lifestyle While naturists in the developed world have long been aware of the emotional, health, environmental, and societal benefits of spending personal, family, and social time clothing free, we've been largely silent in sharing this information with mainstream society. The benefits of naturism or nudism are not even mentioned on popular environmental and sustainable design websites like Treehugger, or Inhabitat. Health sites for example WebMD yield zero results for naturism. The current discussion of sustainable social engineering and resource based market as promulgated by The Zeitgeist Movement also makes no reference of naturism. Even social movements which should clearly encompass naturism, including the promotion of holistic, sustainable, lifestyle practices is mostly divorced from, and uninformed of, naturism. Naturism stays a stepchild, detached, hidden, shunned, and mostly discounted by more popular holistic health and wellness, community engagement, and environmental sustainability movements. We naturists can no longer remain silent if we want to pass on the benefits of naturism to larger society, maintain them for future generations, and even keep them for ourselves. Naturism is under attack. It is an attack of words, largely uninformed words and knee jerk rhetorical questions based in anxiety and http://www.timeflow.ru/wiki/index.php?title=Nudity-And-What-About-the-Children-g , sometimes inflamed by the misbehavior of a few disrespectful, socially reckless individuals. We have been under an assault of words, ordinances, laws, policy revisions, outside political subversion, internal organizational discord, media ridicule, and advertising distortions. We must win this war of words with our own true stories, our personal experiences, the advantages we have received, the societal harmony we've discovered, and the respectful personal accountability and social responsibility we now have practiced. We must actively engage the movements which have yet to mention us in substantive discussion of the worth and benefits associated with the practice of naturism. Like an unloved stepchild, we've been seen (frequently with mistake, fear, and contempt) and not heard. It is time to come out of the closet, grab the microphone, and make http://www.barbook.de/mediawiki/index.php?title=beach-Haulover-This-is-my-favored-naturist-beach-n heard! We must do this, not only for our own good, but for the healing of our larger society which only becomes possible when truly more comprehensive and more inclusive holistic sustainable lifestyle alternatives and public policy choices are brought to the table.
