However, things aren't that easy: this was supposed to be a major setback for the Chinese industry because it is nearly impossible to create a supply chain capable of replicating such extremely complex machines because it involves negotiations with suppliers all over the world and even after very costly investments does not guarantee success. China, on the other hand, contributed more than 15% of ASML's revenue and offered enormous potential because of its size and emphasis on semiconductor manufacturing. Because of this, it is not surprise that the company has been hesitant to abide by US sanctions and has been exporting computers to China. In addition, a former employee of the company joined Huawei, which is increasingly seen as the Chinese equivalent of Apple.
