  1. Using Traditional Chinese Medicine to Treat Pain Let's face it; pain can be a misery, whether it's the odd stiff neck from a terrible night's sleep or a persistent migraine that won't go away. There's no need, though, to suffer in silence or at all. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM Clinic Singapore), a restriction of Qi (life force energy) or blood flow frequently results in pain. It may be brought on by outside events, such as wounds, or it may be the result of underlying problems, such as a weak physical constitution or interior imbalances. TCM Pain Management Treatments seek to treat the underlying reasons and restore the body's balance. Pain can be an indication of more serious health problems. Definition of Gua Sha (TCM Skin Scraping) and benefits Gua sha is a treatment that works to improve blood flow, unblock Qi, and remove toxins. It is based on the TCM principles of meridians. During the gua sha procedure, the skin is scraped with a tool with a smooth edge using a combination of long and short strokes while applying the right amount of pressure. A rash-like look is the result, which typically disappears in 3 to 6 days. As gua sha literally translates to "scrape sand," the rash-like look on the skin is also known as petechiae or "sand rash." The microscopic capillaries under the skin burst as a result of the pressurised strokes or scraping motion of the gua sha tool, resulting in the sand rash. The pain-relieving effects of gua sha treatment have been verified by numerous studies. According to a 2014 Thai study, gua sha helped those who frequently use computers move more freely and have less pain in their neck and shoulders. [1] Another study, which was released in 2011 and was published in the journal Pain Medicine, shown that gua sha significantly reduced discomfort in sufferers of persistent neck pain, which is occasionally accompanied by migraines.
