  2. WHAT IS CATIA? CATIA (Computer Aided Three-Dimensional Interactive Application) is an abbreviation that stands for Computer Aided Three-Dimensional Interactive Application. It's a lot more than CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. It is a comprehensive software package that includes CAD, CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering), and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacture).

Users can create customized lists and folders to store and organize their own work. The designers may create as many folders or favourites as they like, thanks to the database's data handling capabilities, without affecting how other users view the data. The data-controlling 3DEXPERIENCE platform can immediately identify component changes and update all impacted representations, keeping all stakeholders informed about the current status of the structure. Other files can be connected directly to CAD data to increase the amount of information provided (reference tables, exported PDFs, etc.). This documentation is then managed through a database and supplied together with the CAD data that it is linked to. Finally, the database may be used to color 3D objects graphically based on a variety of customizable criteria, such as whether they are new, old, or in use.
