SIMULTANEOUS EQUATION -WORDED PROBLEMS CHALLENGING MATH QUESTIONS ADD,SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY OR DIVIDE TO FIND THE COST OF 1 Note: Example1 : 3 bags and 4 pens together cost 257 dollars whereas 4 bags and 3 pens together cost 324 dollars. Find the cost of a bag and 10 pens ➢Three bags and four pens cost $257 ➢Four bags and three pens cost $324 ➢Find the cost of 1 bag and 1 pen. Steps for working these sums: STEP 1 : -- Identify the unknown : Let “b” stand for bag Let “p” stand for pen STEP 2 : -- Write number and letter statement or equations 3 b + 4 p = $257 4 b + 3 p = $324 STEP 3: Observe for patterns: What do you need to do to get your answer? Add, Subtract, Multiply or Divide. (One of the best ways find for 1 item) STEP 4: Solve and substitute to check if your answer work out.

The school purchased 5metres of the blue satin and 4 metres of the white satin for some flags at a total cost of $155. An events company wants to purchase 24 metres of the blue satin and 27 metres of the white satin for an event. Calculate the total cost of this.
