  4. Support for ANOC World Beach Games • Travel to San Diego by Dr Eduardo de Rose • Development of ANOC Guidelines for Medical and Anti-Doping services • Liaison with Local Organising Committee in Qatar- travel by Dr Sultan Al Busaidi

  5. Local Organising Committee • Key contacts in Doha: • Dr Nasser Ali al-Ansari- Head of Medical and Anti-Doping Committee of LOC • David Rehn- Director of Operations, National Sports Medicine Programme of Qatar Medical care provided by staff of Aspetar Sports Medicine Hospital

  6. Other activities • Support at Continental Games: • Europe- Minsk, Belarus • Pan American Games- Lima, Peru • Africa- Rabat, Morocco • Oceania- Apia, Samoa No major outbreak of communicable disease at any of these events. The usual spectrum of injury and illness pathology

  7. Developments in WADA • Governance reforms- new President elect Mr Witold Banka • Tramadol remains on WADA’s monitoring programme • Clenbuterol contamination of meat- amendment to Article 7.4 of the WADA Code

  8. FIMS- International Federation of Sports Medicine • President Dr Fabio Pigozzi is a member of the ANOC Medical Commission • Next World Congress is in Athens, September 2020

  9. Proposal • Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE): • Standard of Care • Duration: Valid for not more than 1 year, renewable if needed

  10. Future plans • Continue to support NOCs in their medical and anti-doping initiatives • Involvement in IOC Conference on Prevention of Injury and Illness in Sport, Monaco, March 2020 • Continue support for education of sports medicine professionals, in collaboration with Olympic Solidarity

  11. Possible future direction • Exercise in the prevention of Chronic Non-communicable Diseases • Collaboration with other stakeholders 1-WHO, local health authorities 2-NOCs and Athletes’ Commissions – potential for using high profile athletes as champions of an active lifestyle
