Hyundai Verna The Hyundai Verna gets radical styling inspired from the carmaker’s global models, and the stand-out elements include the LED light bar atop the headlights and the fastback style roofline. Like most Hyundais, the Verna comes with premium looking interiors that are loaded to the gills with features. It gets equipment like a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Bose premium audio system, heated and cooled front seats, wireless charging and ADAS. Hyundai is not offering a diesel but the Verna comes with 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and turbo-petrol engines, with the latter producing class-leading 160hp. The Hyundai Verna rivals are the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City. Having ditched the diesel powertrain, the City rivals other petrol-only midsize sedans like the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.   4. Citroen eC3 The eC3 is the all-electric version of the Citroen C3 cross hatchback. The eC3 looks similar to its ICE counterpart from the outside, save for the charging port located on the fender. On the inside, you get a new drive state controller which replaces the manual gear lever. The Citroen eC3 gets a 29.2kWh battery pack which sends power to a front-axle mounted electric motor that makes 57hp and 143Nm, and it has an ARAI-certified range of 320km. It currently only faces competition from the Tata Tiago EV.   6. BMW X1 BMW’s best-selling model in India is now in its third generation, and has grown larger and more spacious, compared to its predecessor. The BMW X1 gets a 136hp, 1.5-litre sDrive18i X Line petrol and a 150hp, 2.0-litre sDrive 18d M Sport diesel engine option, the former paired to a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, the latter a torque-converter automatic. However, this time there is no xDrive AWD variant; it is front-wheel drive only. It gets features such as a 10.25-inch curved infotainment screen, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and ADAS tech. Speaking of design, the new X1 gets a large, chrome heavy grille with inverted L-shaped DRLs. It also gets flush door handles as seen in the new 7 Series.   9. Mahindra XUV400 The Mahindra XUV400 is an all-electric SUV based on the XUV300. However, unlike the ICE-powered compact SUV, the XUV400 is longer than four metres. It comes with a 39.4kWh battery pack that powers the front axle-mounted electric motor that makes 150hp and 310Nm of peak torque and Mahindra claims a range of 456km on a single charge as per Indian Driving Cycle. The prices of the electric SUV will be announced in January 2023.   10. MG Hector Plus The MG Hector Plus is a 3-row derivative of the Hector SUV that in early 2023 got major updates inside and out. It can be had with either six seats or seven, the former getting captain’s chairs in the middle row, and the latter a bench. Both get a pair of small seats in the third row. The Hector and Hector Plus now look identical on the outside and even the inside, with only a badge setting them apart. The biggest update is the addition of the new 14-inch touchscreen as well as ADAS to the Hector line-up.   11. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Hyundai’s second EV for India is the Ioniq 5 crossover, a sister model to the Kia EV6. It is based on Hyundai's e-GMP skateboard EV platform, which has allowed the brand to maximiseinteirior space. Globally, the Ioniq 5 is available in multiple powertrain and drivetrain options but in India we get only the 72kWh battery pack with an ARAI rated range of 613km, with a single motor and rear-wheel drive. Unlike the EV6 which is a completely built unit (CBU), the Ioniq 5 is be assembled in India, which has allowed for a much more competitive price.
