  7. Usability Procedure The Test • Three users, aged 40-49, 50-59, 60-69. • Held at the Beltsville Community Center • Each test took 20-30 minutes Typical Tasks Call Maggie at work. How many times has Wilma called you in the last month? Find a picture of your niece, Hillary. Send your friend Tim a Thanksgiving note with a personalized message.

  8. Usability Findings - Problems • Look at Pictures • “Select Person” button redundant • Send an Email Card • Tabbed interface posed problems • Make a Phone Call • “Select Person” button was hard to notice • Back button needed • View Diary • Not clear what the button text meant

  9. Usability Findings – Positive Feedback “This program would be nice to have for use at home or even at work.” “Great Idea!” “Oh, I like this!!”

  10. Usability Findings – Recommendations Long Term • Unify application components • Re-evaluate tabbed interface & suggest alternatives Short Term Fix inconsistencies between screen styles List names alphabetically Add “Back” button for Make a Phone Call Enable single-click selection of a person
