The heliocentric model is the theory that the Sun, not the Earth, was the center of the universe. This model was proposed by Nicolaus Copernicus in his book, u201cOn the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres,u201d which was published in 1543. The Earth, not the Sun, was the center of the universe, according to the heliocentric model. This theory also suggested that the planets, including the Earth, were orbiting the Sun, rather than the other way around.
