  1. 4 Common Mistakes We Do While Learning to swim There is hardly anyone on this planet who don’t like spending time in the water, spending just a few minutes in the pool can reduce the stress, build the endurance and makes you feel better. The best way you can enjoy a pool or a beach is when you know how to swim. Swimming is not just important for a lifeguard course or life-saving purpose, but it is more than that, a good swimmer feels more confident in the water. Not only he will be safe in the water but he can save someone from drowning. Swimming is a great hobby to learn, but you should avoid doing these common mistakes while taking swimming lessons. Holding The Breath: It is the most common mistake we do while learning to swim. Do not hold your breath, it will just deprive your muscles of much-needed oxygen. The best way is to start practicing on dry land. Take a deep breath through the mouth and exhale through your nose. Same should be done while in the water. Do not hold the breath. Taking Head out of the water to breath: I know, it sounds untenable. How someone supposed to breathe if he/she doesn't lift his/her head out of the water? Let me clarify, it’s more about keeping your head in the water, you just need to lift your face up to breath. Lifting your head out of water affects the body’s alignment, that will mean wasting more energy while swimming. You should always focus on keeping your head down, with the chin tucked into your neck and inhale from the sides of the arm that are out of the water. This strategy is more important when you are planning to be a professional swimmer or when you attend the pool lifeguard training courses.

  2. Relying too much on the upper body: It has been observed that most beginners depend too much on their upper body. When you depend on your arms and shoulders to do all the work, you get tired quickly. Try to maintain an even balance across your core, upper body, and lower body. Not finishing the stroke: One of my friend who has a Swimming pool supplies business and also runs a commercial swimming pool was saying that he observed that many swimmers, even who are swimmers from many years do not complete a stroke, they just start a new stroke too quickly. When you are swimming always complete a stroke, make it a habit. Overcoming these 4 mistakes will definitely make you a good swimmer, and make sure you join a good swimming class, which teaches you everything related to swimming and water safety.
