Types of Strategies
  • Keyword
    • Remembering the definition of carline – a witch driving a car (carline means witch)
  • Pegword
    • Rhyming words to represent numbers
      • One = bun
  • Letter
    • Acronyms or acrostics
      • Every Good Boy Does Fine – the notes on the lines in the treble clef

  • List all processes needed to complete the strategy in the correct order
  • Take an initial to help remember the step for each process
  • Use initials to make a word or phrase
  • Teach students math process while using the strategy to remember the order of operations
