  2. What Is Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)? • BPD is a pattern of: • instability in interpersonal relationships, • self-image, • affect, • impulsive behavior.

  3. They may use behaviors such as: • self-mutilation • suicidal gestures.

  4. At times, a person with BPD will behave in a manner to provoke: • anger in another. • rejecion

  5. Some notable symptoms may be: • mood that is very reactive to stress in relationships • may also undermine himself or herself.

  6. Course of Illness. • Intense symptoms in young adulthood. • In early adulthood, the person experiences serious trouble regulating and tolerating their fluctuations in mood.

  7. Treatment. • Psychotherapy. • Medication. • Hospitalization
