Information/Refresher Session

for New and Returning Volunteers

WELCOME!

Community Fund Drive is…

a charitable giving workplace campaign

Conducted every October 1 - 31

Driven by Lead volunteers (like you!) from each college or unit and grassroots volunteers from within your units, with help from a volunteer committee (that’s us!)

slide4
Workplace campaigns are better for the charities:

Administrative costs are lower than they would be if charities had to solicit individual donations

Payroll deductions provide charities with year-long predictable income making it easier for them to plan services

slide5
Workplace campaigns are better for employees:

They’re safe! You’re guaranteed that your donation safely reaches any charity you select

They’re easy! You can select from an array of organizations that matter most to you

Our campaignco-chairs:
  • Tim Mulcahy Rusty Barceló
  • Vice President Vice President
  • Research Office of Equity
          • and Diversity

The campaign

has the enthusiastic

support of

President Bruininks

slide8

Our goals

$1.25 million

40% participation

Last year’s participation rate was 28.24% of the University community.

WE CAN DO BETTER!!!

slide9

To achieve 40% we need just a little push:

  • We need 1,794 more people to
  • participate this year. That translates to:
  • 36 more participants per Lead.
  • We can meet our goal!
  • More importantly, we will help many
  • very worthy causes!
  • Every single bit counts!

INSPIRE

Our campaign includes events and communication ideas organized by volunteers in each college and unit. Past events include:

Contests, raffles, pancake breakfasts…

Pizza lunches, guest speakers, dunk tanks…

Bake sales, mailbox stuffers, costumes — anything you can think of to raise awareness (and participation)!

EDUCATE

The Community Fund is a group of seven Federations…

which each represent numerous charitable organizations.

Greater Twin Cities United Way

United Negro College Fund

MN Environ-mental Fund

Community Shares of Minnesota

Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless

Community Health Charities Minnesota

United Arts

slide17
Combined, these Federations represent more than 400 charities from which you can chose to donate

………and

slide18
if you’d prefer to donate to a charity not listed, the Community Fund Drive can make that happen also!

…and with lower administrative costs than your favorite charity would have to spend to solicit you individually!

slide19
Here’s how it works:

Explanation and Demonstration of Online Giving

slide20
We know you didn’t quit your day job to do this

We’re here to help make your work as easy as possible

A lot of resources are available; don’t feel you have to start from scratch

Thank you!
