  1. Porcelain Garden Tiles vs. Porcelain Bathroom and Kitchen Tiles

  2. Porcelain. A ceramic that is synonymous with refinement, quality and delicacy. In times past the translucence and delicacy of a porcelain tea service was the undisputed mark of wealth and sophistication. If you could afford to own something so delicate, you truly must have been a person of wealth and taste.

  3. Nothing really has changed of course. Porcelain is still a beautiful ceramic, but over the years its use has become rather more prosaic. A porcelain tea service is still a thing of sophistication and beauty, but if we are to be honest you are more likely to encounter this versatile ceramic on the walls of your kitchen or bathroom than in your kitchen cupboards. Porcelain tiles, with their clean aesthetics and “wipe down” cleanliness have become the default wall covering in kitchens and bathrooms. Good looking and hygienic, why would you use anything else?

  4. But there is a quality that porcelain kitchen and bathroom tiles share with porcelain tableware. They are not renowned for their durability. Anyone who has done their own tiling will likely have experienced the frustration of accidentally cracking a tile even though they were being incredibly careful. The whole point of porcelain tableware was that it was delicate – the ability to use it without breaking it was supposed to be a sign that you were a refined and sophisticated person.

  5. Given that, why on earth would you put porcelain in your garden? Surely this ceramic is far too delicate for that kind of application? Never mind the wear and tear of everyday use, what about frost? People dropping things? Porcelain is far too fragile for an outdoor environment, surely? Would not a natural rock product such as Indian Limestone be more suitable?

  6. Well, Indian limestone is a brilliant paving product for sure – with its natural good looks and inherent durability it is an obvious choice for outdoor paving. And for sure, Indian limestone is a fantastic paving surface. If you have your heart set on a natural look that evokes a rural aesthetic that is probably the way to go. But if you crave a more modern, urban style you might find limestone a little too rustic.

  7. If that is the case porcelain paving slabs might well be the way to go. Specifically fired to be both hard and durable porcelain paving is available in a wide range of colours to enable them to complement their surroundings. Created to be hard wearing our porcelain paving slabs are a fabulous alternative to sandstone paving, boasting a panoply of virtues which confirm them as the perfect choice for paving patios, paths and the areas around swimming pools.

  8. Porcelain paving slabs are entirely unlike their crockery cousins. A porcelain paving slab is practically maintenance-free and will provide an incredibly hard wearing and durable paved surface. Porcelain paving slabs are slip resistant, limiting the danger of slips and falls.

  9. They are stain resistant, scratch resistant and even mould resistant, which means that maintenance is something you will never really have to think about. If that were not enough porcelain paving slabs are resistant to acids and alkalis. Their colours, the colours you choose, will not change over time. More than that, as a premium paving option these are tiles that will add value to your home.

  10. Far from being fragile, porcelain paving slabs give you all of the characteristics of limestone paving but with a cool urban look. Every bit as durable, every bit as good looking good looking, absolutely created to be non-slip and hard wearing, so much stronger than the porcelain on the walls of your bathroom. Porcelain paving is not fragile – it is so much more durable than anything else you might choose, so come and talk to us today and explore the potential that ceramics can bring to your outdoor space.
