  4. Pre-Survey • Go to orangeglenhigh.org • Under departments, click on Counseling • Click on the Pre-Survey link and take a couple minutes to answer each question

Lesson Standards & Objectives • Objective • I can demonstrate my understanding of high school graduation and A-G requirements by starting a 4-year plan and reviewing my past classes. • American School Counselor Association National Standards for Students • Standard B: Students will complete school with the academic preparation essential to choose from a wide range of substantial post-secondary options, including college.

A-G Requirements • Classes required to take and pass to attend most California colleges (UCs and CSUs) • A: History (2 years) • B: English (4 years) • C: Math (3 years) • D: Science (2 years) • 1 year of life science • 1 year of physical science • E: Foreign Language (2 years) • F: Visual and Performing Arts (1 year) • G: College Preparatory Elective (1 year) • You MUST receive a C or better in A-G classes

  9. More College Information… • What are Community Colleges? • 2-year schools • Earn credits to transfer to a 4-year university • Earn an associate’s degree or certificate • Examples? • What are 4-Year Universities? • 4-year schools • Earn a bachelor’s degree • Can live on campus • Examples?

MAP Program • Guaranteed admissions programbetween California State University, San Marcos and Escondido Union High School District • Requirements: • M: Maintain a rigorous course of study (completing A-G UC/CSU admission criteria with a 3.0 GPA) • A: Attend school daily (maintaining a minimum of 98% attendance rate over 4 years) • P: Participate in school and/or community activities (minimum total of 100 hours) • Other requirements: take SAT or ACT, continuous enrollment in the district since 9thgrade MAP Scholarshipavailable to those who meet eligibility requirements!

  11. Am I On Track? • The minimum number of credits you should have right NOW to be on track for graduation is 50 • What if I have less than 50? • Make sure you are passing your classes now! • Summer School • 0/7th Period class  • Online Learning  Take a look at your credits

  12. Create your CaliforniaColleges Account • Go to californiacolleges.edu to get started • Click on the Lock in the top right corner

Create your CaliforniaColleges Account • In the Students box, click on Register Your Account • Enter our district (Escondido Union High) and high school • Username: School email address • Password: ID Number • You can find the rest of the information on your transcript • Once completed, you will automatically be logged in and taken to the homepage

CaliforniaColleges Planner • CaliforniaColleges has a TON of information to help you with your future planning whether you are attending a 4-year university, community college, or heading straight into a career or the military • Today we will start with the class planner • The class planner is directly linked to the CSU application. Any courses and grades that you enter into this planner can be transferred over to the application once it opens in the Fall. • You are essentially starting part of your college applications right now! • CaliforniaColleges is currently in negotiations with UC to also link with their application. • Click on My Plan near the top of the screen to be taken directly to the Academic Planner

  16. The Academic Planner • Begin with your freshman English class to get the hang of it. • Refer to your transcript to fill out the rest of the planner with classes AND grades

The Academic Planner • Things to remember: • Term Type: Semester • Select Term: Fall, Spring, or Summer depending on when you took the class • Status: Anything from last semester and before will be Completed • Current classes are Enrolled • Next year’s classes are Planned • Don’t forget to enter your grades!
