  1. How to stay safe while cycling

  2. Introduction For almost a decade, there has been a decline in bicycle accident deaths. Recent studies have shown that bicycle accidents are on the rise. Fatal bike accidents outnumber all traffic-related deaths. It's dangerous to ride a bicycle in the United States. According to statistics from the Governor's Highway Safety Association, the increase in fatal bike accidents started around 2011. Every year, 55 more cyclists have been killed in bike accidents since 2011. This year, 818 cyclists died on roads in the United States. This is a more than 12 percent increase over the previous year. Recent statistics show that roads are becoming less safe. According to the CDC, more than 1000 bicyclists died in traffic accidents in 2016. You have the power to reduce the chance of an accident on your bicycle. These are ten ways you can keep yourself safe while riding on the roads.

  3. 1. Wear a Helmet Some states do not require cyclists to wear helmets. Research shows that helmets can help reduce your risk of serious injuries by 70%. Head injuries are the most common cause of fatal bike accident deaths. Unfortunately, 97% of victims don't wear helmets. A helmet can help prevent many bike-related deaths. 2. Use GPS for Bike The smallest and most lightweight tracker. Two multimodal location sensors use GPS, LBS (location-based services), and WiFi to track in real-time. Install in 1 Step (insert Simcard & start). It has a built-in cellphone that tracks you and can also dial emergency numbers. You can click here for the gps tracker for bike.

  4. 3. Learn Your Signs and Use Them Bicycle accidents often occur near intersections. You should be familiar with the hand signals for bicycles. It is important to communicate with other cyclists and drivers. If you don't give a fair warning, a driver can't anticipate what you will do. Your hand signals should be clear and visible to other drivers. Accidents are less likely when everyone is on the same page. 4. Keep away from the Sidewalks Sidewalks can seem safer than riding on the roads if you are sharing the road with larger vehicles. Sidewalk biking can prove to be dangerous because of several factors. First, pedestrians use sidewalks. When the sidewalks are packed, you're more likely crash into pedestrians or lose control. A second reason is that sidewalk pavement can be more uneven than asphalt. A crack or bump on the sidewalk can cause you to fly.
