  3. ABOUT UNIVERSITY Nalanda University is the oldest University in India. The campus size is about 30 acres in Bihar. Furthermore, it is a prestigious institution.   6. HISTORY Nalanda was an ancient Buddhist Monastery that was also a center of learning. Furthermore, it flourished during the Gupta Empire, during the 5th and 6th centuries. Nalanda University has a very rich culture. Also, during ancient times scholars from Tibet, China & Korea came to study here. Thus, this University began as a center for Buddhist studies, and then it developed various streams. It is believed that in the 13th century, this University was abandoned. King Kumaragupta 1 built this University. Nalanda University got attacked three times. One of which was the attack of Bakhtiyar Khilji in 1202 AD. However, Nalanda University was built only twice. Nalanda University is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This University was forgotten till the 19th century but was surveyed thereafter. It is designated as "International University Of National Importance" by the Indian Government.

The hostels are well ventilated, air-conditioned, and have single/double occupancy options. The selection depends on the choice of the students. The food facility at Nalanda University is quite good. The menu at the mess is vivid. It is ensured that students get a sumptuous & nutritional diet. The facilities at the hostel are good and quite satisfactory at Nalanda University.
