  2. How Plastic Injection Molding Works? Injection molding works by melting beads of plastic, & forcing them into the empty space between two specially-formed plates, usually made of steel. Skilled machinists make these plates according to a design that an engineer usually supplies. Every thirty seconds, the machine opens, ejects a fresh, new plastic part, closes, & repeats the cycle.
