  2. 4 Steps in the Cycle of the Injection Molding Process What is injection molding? It is a method used to produce a wide range of goods, from little parts to big ones. It makes use of granular plastic that is gravity fed into a heated chamber by a plunger-style screw motor, melted there, and then pressed against the mold. After cooling, it is then removed as a solid portion.

  3. Clamping The clamping unit closes the molds' two halves securely at this stage. The clamping unit is held in place by hydraulic power while the specific material is injected (typically a thermoplastic). Injection The injection molding machine is now fed with raw plastic material or pellets, which are subsequently pushed into the injection unit, melted, and finally injected into the mold.

  4. Cooling Ejection The molten plastic can take the form of a mold and become solid after cooling. Various parts and components have various cooling periods depending on the maximum wall thickness of the part and the thermodynamic characteristics of the plastic material. The molded part is forced out of the clamping unit using an ejection system. Before injection, the surface of the mold cavity may be coated with a mold release agent to enable simple ejection and prevent damage to the new part.
