  1. Garmin Vívosmart HR Preview Garmin apparently has been really busy. They just announced the Vivosmart HR which is an activity tracker that features 24-7 heart rate readings and has a built-in optical heart rate sensor. That heart rate sensor has been developed internally within Garmin. This device will track your all-day steps, calories burned, distance traveled and then stairs climbed which is new and something called intensity minutes. You’ll get a goal

  2. for intensity minutes each week as well. It will also track your sleep automatically. It's also going to record your 24/7 heart rate so you'll get a heart rate chart that will sync across to Garmin Connect, the mobile application and then that heart rate sensor is also going to work for your workouts as well. No word just yet, if you can use an external HR monitor – Read more about external chest strap HR monitors at AllFitnessWeb. If you want workouts that are a little bit more high intensity, you would want to put that chest strap on.

  3. The Design Some other things about the Vivosmart HR - they did re-up the design so it does look like the Vivofit but it's going to have a sunlight-readable display that's always on which is going to be really nice. The fact that it is going to be sunlight readable is pretty cool because the prior generation of this device was a little bit more difficult to read in the sunlight. Of course, it is still a touch screen so you're going to navigate this device by flipping through all the different screens. The Display The screen has also got a big upgrade for the fact that it is now larger so you can see a lot more information on your wrist. That’s going to be pretty cool. Its water resistant down to 50 meters. it does have an improved locking mechanism so I think people are really going to like the way that it fits on their wrists better and yes you will still get those smart phone notifications. So if you have it

  4. paired with a compatible Bluetooth device you will see all of your social minders and your emails and calendar reminders, all that stuff will show up on your wrist. You are still going to get daily alarms, activity reminders and a move bar - all of the cool stuff we love about activity trackers. it's going to be able to control your Garmin Virb action camera and you can control the music playing back on your phone right on your wrist as well.

  5. Battery Life The battery life did get a downgrade so it was right around six or seven days with the original Vivosmart and it's going to be right around five days with the Vivosmart HR which is not bad. It’s not at the higher tier in terms of battery life but it's not low. I think it's just going to be fine, but battery life is not quite as good as it used to be. i think it's going to compete for the top spot of best activity tracker out there. Price It’s going to retail for 150 bucks and it's going to come in black blue and purple. Anyways though I think the Vivosmart HR is going to be pretty sweet. To me you know the fact that it doesn't have GPS isn't an issue because I think a hundred fifty dollars is a pretty good price point for it. Check latest price. It’s right around the same price as the Charge HR and it can do more than Fitbit. The Polar A360 is also going to compete for that spot. That’s a little

  6. bit higher up in terms of price points but overall the Vivosmart HR is something that I have been waiting for.
