Different Ways to Apply Clothing Labels

Aside from getting ready for the back to school by putting kids school labels, clothing labels can be very useful tools for identifying your clothes and keeping track of them. But, if labels are not attached properly, they may come off as you wear the piece or when you wash it. They can even leave behind lint and residue that makes future cleaning more difficult. Here are a few tips to help apply clothing labels:

  1. Different Ways to Apply Clothing Labels

  2. Aside from getting ready for the back to school by putting kids school labels, clothing labels can be very useful tools for identifying your clothes and keeping track of them. But, if labels are not attached properly, they may come off as you wear the piece or when you wash it. Here are a few tips to help apply clothing labels:

  3. Attach smaller tags at points where there is extra fabric and larger ones on seams like the waist area to make notes of any special washing instructions specific to those areas or particular fabrics. The former will prevent it from slipping out while laundering, but the latter will ensure the entire garment gets washed accordingly. 01 Use safety pins (they’re not just for holding on your clothes) to fasten iron-on labels directly on the inside of garments. They’re hidden from view, very low profile but just as effective for keeping tags in place. 02

  4. In ironing clothing labels onto items, do not iron over the label itself or any other reinforcement that has been added to keep it in place. The safest option is to put a thin cloth between the tag and iron so you can iron around all parts of it without risk of melting or shifting either one. 03 Use safety pins (they’re not just for holding on your clothes) to fasten iron-on labels directly on the inside of garments. They’re hidden from view, very low profile but just as effective for keeping tags in place. 04

  5. Remove many types of clothing labels by rubbing them against a piece of sandpaper until they start to peel away from the fabric. A lighter touch will avoid damaging the garment itself but ensure the tag comes off entirely without leaving behind any sticky residue that could prove difficult to remove at a later date. 05 To manipulate tags into position beforehand stitching, use small pieces of masking tape applied firmly along one edge enough so they won’t shift during handling without being impossible to reposition if necessary because the adhesive will likely damage certain fabrics. 06

  6. For larger tags make a few small cuts through one edge and pull the fabric together to effectively create a thread loop and tie off tightly, fasten with a single stitch or two if needed but do not cut. A bulky knot can also be hammered flat for a neater finish. 07 To help keep clothing labels from pulling away during laundering either stick them on temporarily with double-sided tape or hand stitch them in place using strong thread wrapped around multiple times so they won’t break free when pulled but take care to avoid penetrating the label itself because doing so could pose 08 a choking hazard.

  7. 09 If a clothing label is too tiny to stitch on but you don’t want to risk it coming off, simply cover the sticky side with several layers of clear tape or glue a thin piece of fabric over it. Wear an extra tag in your pocket to stay organized and avoid losing important information because many labels have removable loops that can be used for this purpose. In this case, consider using a cord instead of thread to 10 attach your new accessory.

  8. These are some tips of apply clothing labels and how can they help you overcome any problems you may have with your kids’ clothes. The steps are easy to follow and understand if you just look at the tips carefully. Clothing labels are very important because they tell about what kind of fabric is in clothing or something that can help take care of it. Putting them on correctly will make sure they are well taken care of.

  9. Reasons why you should label your kids’ clothes Here are some reasons why every parent should label their kids’ clothes. What if we didn’t have those labels? Would you know whom each child belongs to?

  10. The first reason why it is crucial to label your children’s clothing is that there are lots of other people out there who may not necessarily want to return and/or keep your kid’s clothing. The next reason why labelling your children’s clothes are extremely important is that you can now know where everything belongs. You no longer need to search through piles of clothes trying to find which ones belong to each child. Lastly, if something were to happen to your child, the police will have a much easier time trying to find them and/or you can turn to the media and report it because now there is an identifiable name on each article of clothing.

  11. Now, this doesn’t mean that people should go around labelling random things. Name labels are a good idea but you could use something like either the first initial and last name or even just initials will do just fine!
