  2. GEARBOX OIL COOLING SYSTEM The primary purpose of the gearbox oil is to: • Remove heat • Lubricate • Remove the debris generated by wear & tear of the gears. If the temperature of the oil is high, it will not be able to effectively remove the heat generated. Resulting in further increase in temperature. As the temperature rises, the viscosity of the oil drops and it will not be able to lubricate properly. Lack of lubrication & the higher temperature will result in even larger wear & tear. Therefore more debris is generated.
