  2. The N95 is the most common collection of particulate respirator masks, which follow the requirements of the United States government. NIOSH-the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health-is evaluating the face masks to minimize sensitivity to chemical contaminates. Extend the headband behind the ears over the head and place it below. 3. Mold the metal nosepiece to the form of the nose using both hands. 4. Cup both hands over the respirator to check suit, then exhale forcefully. If the air flows through the ears, secure the nosepiece: if the air flows around the sides of the respirator, reposition the headbands to fit better and check again until no air leakage is visible.
