  2. Because of late with the introduction of the H1N1 flu virus, portable respirator masks gained expanded exposure, while they have long been utilized for many uses like workplace health. N95 refers to a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health ( NIOSH) rating assigned to masks that satisfy a specified minimum particle transmission standard.
