Introduction to cataracts A cataract is a clouding of the natural lens of the eye, which is located behind the iris and pipil . it is a commom condition that affects millions of people worldwide. the lens acts like a camera lens ,focusing light into the retina at the back of the eye. with age ,the naturally becomes thicker and lessflexible ,causing a decrease in the amount of light that reachrs the retina.
What is a cataract Clouding of the lens Interference with light Cataracts occur when the normally clear lens of the eye becomes cloudy or opaque similar to the way a firm develops over a windowpane. The clouding interfere with the passage of light to the retin, causing blurred vision , glare , halos around light and difficlty seeing at night. Gradual development Cataracts usually develop gradually and may not be noticeable at first.
