  1. Walk-In Showers Offer Convenience And Great Features The average person has a bathtub in their bathroom, or a shower – or one of each. Depending on the layout of the home, you may have a bath in an old style, a tub sitting on legs, for example if you live in a Victorian or Edwardian home. The modern bath looks different: it is normally designed to sit flush on the floor and is not a loose standing piece, such as the older Victorian baths used to be. It normally has an edge over which you swing your legs and lower body to get into the bath – and out of it again once you are clean. When it comes to the choices of showers, there are also options. Some showers are designed to be closed off neatly behind a sliding glass door, whereas another one may only have a movable curtain you can pull shut so you do not spill water on the floor. The shower, to help prevent water from spilling when the tap is open, or when you stand underneath it with water splashing all over - also on the adjoining floor – is therefore designed with a small edge to make sure you do not mess on the floor or worse, still, that you do not slip and fall and injure yourself. It is a good, practical consideration that serves a great purpose. Bathtubs and showers all serve a great purpose, we know. However, for many people the traditional bathtub and shower may not be ideal. Many people, those with mobility issues, such as individuals with sore knees and legs, or stiff muscles, for example, find the bathtub and traditional shower to be impractical, as they may not be able to lift their legs and bodies high enough to get into – and out of – the bath or shower. The edges limit them, and therefore they may need a helper, which many can either not afford, or they simply do not want an assistant, since they value their independence too much. For these people, fortunately, there are modern solutions in the form of walk-in tubs and walk-in showers, i.e. a tub or shower at which you do not have to lift you body or legs – you simply walk in and close the door behind you, let water in and proceed to clean yourself. They are designed to allow the user ease of access (no edges and little walls), so that only minimum effort is required to get in and out, and certainly with no lifting of the body or legs involved. These are modern systems and are designed, manufactured and marketed by specialist services all over the world, and certainly all over America as well. The low-entry showers, for example, are designed to allow you to enter the shower safely and conveniently, to sit or stand as you clean yourself, and then just as easily get out afterwards. Depending on the supplier you deal with, you may find a walk-in shower that offers you a number of great features to make your shower experience so much better, for example a barrier free anti-slip base, different grab bars inside the shower, handheld shower wands so you can direct the water to all parts of your body without having to move around, safety seats and a whole lot of other features.

  2. These showers can easily be fitted into a new build project, but they are as easily fitted into the space of an existing shower. Ask the installers if they can do that for you. The answer is “yes” since simple adjustments allow this, especially if you deal with a supplier known for installing the best walk-in tubs and showers. Some services will always better than others. Therefore: the person with physical disabilities can take heart: modern systems exist to offer households walk-in tubs and showers.
