  5. 12 Tips To Prevent Workplace Fire • Preventing fires is everyone job. • We all need to be alert to anything and anyplace where it is workplace or home that could cause a fire.

  6. 1. Get Organized • Clutter contributes to fires by providing combustible and by preventing access to exits and emergency tools.

  7. 2. Designated Smoking Areas • Smoke only in preferred areas, and extinguish smoking materials safely. • Never smoke in storerooms or chemical storage areas.

  8. 3. Fire Extinguishers • Maintaining the proper type and number of fire extinguishers. • Learn how to use a fire extinguisher properly.

  9. 4. Electrical Hazards • Report all electrical hazards. • Many fires start in broken wiring and malfunctioning electrical equipment.

  10. 5. Access to Control Panels • Electrical control panels need to have free access maintained so that the electric could be shut off easily.

  15. 10. Prevent Ignition • Use all precautions to prevent fire in possibly explosive atmospheres such as those containing flammable liquid vapours or fine particles. • Use non-sparking tools, and control static electricity as needed.

  16. 11. Exits • Emergency exit diagrams should be posted, and emergency exits should be well lit with neon-regulation signs.

  17. 12. Contact Information • Employees should have emergency contact phone numbers in case of emergency. • Always remember that people will often panic in an intense condition. • Therefore, basics such as the company address, phone number and floor plan should be posted.
