  1. Retirement Communities A retirement community is usually a residential living community designed especially for older adults who can take care of themselves; but, help from home health care agencies is permitted in some retirement communities, and recreational activities and socializing opportunities are also offered. These communities have been built to cater to senior adults' needs, which may be increased access to transportation services or the provision of meals in various forms. Some retirement communities have included medical and dental services for their residents. Retirement communities are also used as extended homes for retired employees, which can be used on a temporary or permanent basis. Retirement community facilities may include retirement homes, apartment complexes, or townhomes. The most common type of retirement community is that one can stay in an apartment or condominium unit and enjoy the benefits of having a gated entry and the convenience of having facilities within walking distance. One can also enjoy independent living, which has its advantages. Independent living accommodations offer the senior an opportunity to still enjoy living like a senior citizen while utilizing the facilities. In retirement communities, residents can choose to live in gated communities or live-in shared houses. The latter allows them more space and privacy, along with the necessary amenities. Some communities have amenities like fireplaces, outdoor entertainment areas, swimming pools, and game rooms. Independent housing accommodations can also have kitchens and laundry rooms. Independent housing accommodations are ideal for older persons who want more independence. These residences are best suited for those who want to live alone and do not wish to be joined at the hip with other younger relatives. Living alone can be difficult in a senior living community, as they can feel isolated if their surroundings are like many other retirement communities. With independent living accommodations, older persons can have access to other members of their family if they so desire. They can also pursue their hobbies, go for extended walks, or do housework on their own. It gives them more opportunity to enjoy their freedom.

  2. Older persons need to be concerned about their safety when they move into these residences. There are various kinds of amenities available in retirement communities that give them the comfort they need to enjoy their retirement years safely. Security is provided by the various kinds of alarms and security systems available in these residences. There are emergency call buttons, video surveillance and security cameras, 24-hour guard protection and medical services available in retirement communities. There are also doors with security locks, intercom systems with voice communication, private swimming pools, and outdoor activities designed to make the life of the older residents comfortable. The residents of retirement communities can enjoy all this and more in these communities. The communities provide various kinds of facilities to cater to the needs of the older generation. These include, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient care centers, shopping centers, and fitness centers. There are also facilities to avail of the various kinds of community health services and other social services designed to make the lives of the residents more comfortable. You can select from the various types of housing options available in the retirement community. The common types include: condominiums, single-family units, town houses, apartments, self-assisted living communities, Condominiums have different sets of monthly fees depending on the size of the property and the number of bedrooms. The rates will also differ according to the type of structure chosen, such as: traditional condominiums, apartment buildings, and town houses. In single-family units, the fees are set separately for the unit itself and for the entrance and other facilities of the building. and assisted living facilities. The rates for living in retirement communities are usually lower compared to the rates for living in local communities. The reason is that retirees in these communities are already middle-aged and are unlikely to require much assistance in their day-to-day activities. The retirement community provides all the facilities and services that an elderly person may need, such as: housekeeping, food preparation and serving, laundry, and cleaning, transportation and errands, etc. However, seniors who stay in these communities do not receive medical services, which some older people prefer, since they feel it is not necessary to spend money for the medical needs of the aged.
