SCJ_Asia Pleasantly Surprised Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2010 Having lived in China for 4 years now, I was pleasantly surprised after reading through the book. As an experienced manager here I was surprised to be learning something new from this book. The anecdotal approach creates a nice flow and allowed me to easily digest and begin to apply its lessons to my own team here in Shenzhen. I have found myself referencing the book on several occasions and would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking to do business in China or to those who have lived here for years. Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2010 Having lived and run my own business in China for over 10 years, I know the challenges of working in China and trying to understand the cultural and communication differences. I have read dozens of China business books, and Doug's is at the top of the list because it focuses on giving lessons. He gives value and teachings that I can use quickly to better understand how to work in China and build relationships, especially because I plan to be here for a long time. The author conveys a deep cultural understanding of these nuances and balances his views and experiences with those of others lending credibility to his insight. This book is a must read for any aspiring professional seeking to do business in China.
