Solution 2) Manually create Windows Firewall exceptions for QuickBooks programs Select the Windows Start menu, type “Windows Firewall” in the search box, and open Windows Firewall. • Choose Advanced Settings from the left panel. • Right-click the Outbound Rules and then choose the New Rule option. • Select the Program option and then hit the Next button. • Click on the This Program Path option and then hit the Browse button. • Now, select the necessary QuickBooks files by navigating to the following paths: • For QBW32.exe file – C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR • For QBUpdate.exe file – C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBUpdate • For QBDBMgr.exe – C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR • For QBDBMgrN.exe - C:\Program Files\Intuit\QUICKBOOKS YEAR • Select the Allow the Connection option and then hit the Next button. • If prompted, checkmark all profiles and then hit the Next button. • Create a new rule and give it a name in the following manner: “QBFirewallException(name.exe).” • Now, create inbound rules by following the aforementioned steps in the same order, except you need to choose Inbound Rules instead of Outbound Rules.
