Butin asmallpercentageofpeoplediagnosedwithasthma, itcannotbe controlled with the usual treatment and begins to affect their everyday life. This is known as severe asthma. • Whetherornot youhavesevereasthmacanbebecauseofanumberofpossiblecauses.Genetics,your environment, howasthmahasaffectedyourbody, andhowyourbodyreactstothediseasecanalsoplay a part.Controlofasthmasymptomsdependsonmanyfactorsandhavingpoorcontrol could alsobe becauseof factorsthatcanbecorrectedsuchas ensuringthemedicationis takenasprescribed, ensuring theinhalerdevicesareusedproperly,reducingexposure to allergens,andquittingsmoking. • SymptomsofSevereAsthma • Theseverity ofasthmacanchangeovertime. If proper treatment is provided and followed, it is possible to improve their condition, reduce the symptoms,andnolongerhavesevereasthma • Difficult-to-treatsevere asthma • Whenthereis poorcontrolofasthmabecauseoffactorsthatarenotasthmaitself,itisconsideredto be difficult-to-treat severeasthma.
